Persistent rains over the last seven days have worsened the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the region, as stated by humanitarian organizations.
"Horrendous" Weather Creates Serious Dangers
A spokesman detailed the previous night's conditions as "awful", with rain so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.
"These conditions was truly difficult for the people. The downpours were so intense... And the gales were so strong," said the official.
Authorities voice extreme anxiety that young ones living in temporary structures in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.
Casualties and Widespread Destruction
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has died from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have died in building collapses due to the storms.
Additional accounts put a increased death toll. Officials reported that multiple residential buildings had totally fallen and dozens had collapsed partially.
- Almost 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
- More than 40 official refuges submerged.
- Many people compelled to move once more.
Aid Distribution Deemed Not Enough
Organizations have increased distribution of shelter, warm covers and clothing after the truce began, but they have said there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that aid and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so vast that we are faced with a great number of families and children who are genuinely suffering every night," cautioned one official.
Ongoing Issues and Ceasefire Provisions
The subsequent part of the agreement involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of troops, and other provisions.
Humanitarian organizations have stressed the need for "expanded and ongoing aid to meet immediate and long-term requirements."
The hostilities was sparked by an attack in October 2023. Following actions have caused a significant number of lives lost in the territory, based on health ministry figures.
